Wrocław Gets a Direct Route to Basque Country

Wizz Air will add a new direct link between Wrocław and Bilbao, giving the Polish airport its first route to northern Spain. The Basque city will join Wrocław’s growing European network as a new option for winter travel, city breaks and longer trips across one of Spain’s most distinctive regions. Wrocław Airport says Bilbao is its first direct route to northern Spain, adding a different kind of Spanish trip to its network. Instead of a classic beach-only break, the city works for weekends built around food, museums and old streets, or as the starting point for a wider Basque Country journey. Wizz Air tickets are already on sale.
Bilbao’s main draw is the Guggenheim Museum, but the trip does not stop there. Travellers can add Casco Viejo, the Cathedral of St James, the Church of San Antón and the Vizcaya Bridge, one of the region’s major industrial landmarks. The city also has a strong pintxos culture, making it a good choice for a food-led short break.
The direct service removes the need to connect through Madrid, Barcelona or another airport, which makes the Basque Country easier to plan from Wrocław. Bilbao can be used for river walks, art museums and coastal day trips, with the Bay of Biscay around 30 minutes away. The winter launch gives the route a soft start before three weekly flights in summer 2027.
