Wizz Air Launches Mobile Feature to Manage Summer Flight Disruptions
On 8 July 2025, Wizz Air added something new to its mobile app called My Journey. This feature helps passengers keep track of what is happening with their flight as they travel. The feature lets passengers check their flight status as it happens and quickly see what help is available if their plans are disrupted by delays, cancellations or changes. The rollout coincides with a period of intensified air travel across Europe, with summer 2025 traffic now exceeding levels recorded in both 2024 and the pre-pandemic period.
According to the airline, air traffic this summer has grown by five percent compared to the same period last year. Several regions across Europe continue to experience insufficient air traffic control capacity, which has led to congestion and operational delays at key hubs. The My Journey feature was introduced as part of the airline’s wider effort to assist passengers when flight disruptions happen and to provide clear, immediate access to relevant travel options.
My Journey is the ultimate solution for our passengers — enabling them to own their travel experience, whatever happens. With ‘My Journey,’ we’re empowering our customers with real-time tools to manage their trip on their own terms. This is another step towards our commitments made in our Customer First Compass initiative. We believe launching this feature during the peak summer period, when more flights are impacted by weather and air traffic control-related disruptions, will help our customers navigate more easily and save time and energy during their trips.
With this update, users can keep track of key parts of their journey directly on their mobile device. The app provides access to the following information and services:
- Check-in status and boarding details
- Gate number updates
- Real-time alerts about delays or cancellations
A list of available support options in case of disruption, such as:
- Hotel accommodation
- Meal vouchers
- Compensation or refunds, depending on eligibility
These can all be accessed in the app without needing to queue or speak with staff.
In addition, passengers can select alternative options for continuing their journey, such as rebooking on another flight, requesting a refund, or confirming a replacement itinerary offered by the airline. The feature is currently being rolled out in phases and is accessible to all passengers who are logged into the Wizz Air app. The app shows everything in the language the user has already chosen in their profile settings.
The tool is available across major operating systems, including Apple, Google, and Huawei platforms. It is intended for use by both returning passengers and those traveling with Wizz Air for the first time. As airports across Europe continue to manage high traffic volumes and face weather-related disruptions, the availability of centralized travel updates and support functions within the app may improve how passengers access time-sensitive information and respond to schedule changes during their journey.
