Next year, travelers in the UK will have the chance to join steam train journeys that pass through some of the country’s most notable scenic and historic areas. The routes span the Scottish Highlands, the Lake District, and the Shetland Islands, linking heritage rail travel with stops at natural and cultural landmarks. The tours are scheduled on specific dates, enabling participants to organize their visits with clarity while covering multiple points of interest effectively.

The 2026 programs include The Cock O’the North, The Shetlander, the English Lake District tour, and the Summer Highlander journey. These tours integrate train travel with scheduled visits to regional sites and attractions. By arranging transport, sightseeing, and accommodation in a coordinated way, the itineraries offer participants a structured approach to exploring both widely visited destinations and more remote areas across the UK, providing a comprehensive and manageable travel experience.

The following tours highlight the distinctive character of northern and highland regions, combining scenic routes with cultural landmarks. Scottish and Northern Tours:

  • The Cock O’the North (7-13 May and 25 June-1 July 2026): features stops at Urquhart Castle, Dunvegan Castle, and a cruise on Loch Ness, providing a combination of historical and natural highlights in Scotland.
  • The Shetlander (26 May-2 June and 22-29 July 2026): includes a program of visits to Jarlshof, Sumburgh Head, and Esha Ness, offering participants a chance to explore archaeological sites, coastal views, and native fauna. These organized visits help participants navigate the region efficiently while covering significant points of interest.

Next, the itineraries turn to England’s charming landscapes and the Highlands’ well-known steam train journeys, showcasing both culture and nature. English and Highland Tours:

  • English Lake District Tour (4-9 June and 27 August-1 September 2026): includes Hill Top House, Muncaster Castle, and a steam yacht cruise on Coniston Water.
  • The Summer Highlander (13-18 July and 14-19 September 2026): combines journeys on the Jacobite steam train and scenic routes to Inverness with visits to the Isle of Skye and historic castles. Central accommodation in towns such as Bowness-on-Windermere and Dundee provides convenient access to these sites, allowing participants to maximize sightseeing with minimal logistical effort.

The itineraries give travelers the chance to see a variety of landmarks while experiencing the region’s natural, cultural, and historical sites in one trip. By providing coordinated schedules and reducing the need for independent planning, these tours allow travelers to follow a clear framework for visiting major sites, making it easier to experience multiple notable destinations in an organized and informative way.
