Two friends' trip to a resort in the Bahamas ended in terrible consequences: details
Friends from Kentucky, Dongaila Dobson and Amber Shearer, claimed that they were drugged and raped by unidentified men in hotel uniforms during a cruise trip to the Bahamas. Following the announcement, the women filed a lawsuit against Carnival Cruises for failing to inform them of the US State Department's travel ban.
It is noted that on the eve of the trip, at the end of January, 2 warnings were issued regarding the dangerous situation in the Bahamas, after several murders during the day and sexual violence that occurred in the country recently. However, the cruise company docked in the Caribbean country and did not warn travelers about the danger, The Mirror reported.
The 31-year-old victims said that they drank 2 cocktails within 15 minutes, after which they felt an unusual state that was not characteristic of alcohol intoxication. Eventually, under the pretext of helping them find shells for their children, the women, who could barely stand, were taken out by unknown men in hotel uniforms. Later, a toxicology report showed that they had a cocktail of drugs in their system, including cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepines, the concentration of which could have killed the women.
The morning after the attack, the women turned to the hotel's security service, which was able to identify the attackers. However, the situation became more complicated when the police arrived, and the officers did not sympathize with the victims' situation. According to Dongaila, they were told that if they wanted to get any tests for rape, they had to go to the hospital, but this was blocked by the US Embassy.
It is now known that police have arrested two men suspected of committing the crime. The men, aged 54 and 40, were identified through CCTV footage showing the men taking the victims out of the hotel. It is noted that the names of the attackers have not been disclosed, saying that one of them is connected to an influential figure on the islands who is trying to get his brother released.
