New night buses will appear on European routes in November 2025. They are being launched by the Swiss company Twiliner, which plans to connect major cities with convenient overnight journeys. The first services will run from Zurich to Amsterdam and from Zurich to Barcelona, stopping in several cities in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. This will allow passengers to reach other countries overnight and continue their trip in the morning.

Twiliner buses are arranged to make overnight travel more practical and organised. Each vehicle has only 21 seats that can recline fully into beds. On board, passengers will find:

  • Pillows and blankets for rest
  • Reading lights, electrical sockets and Wi-Fi for use during the journey
  • A small personal storage space near the seat

On the lower level there is a restroom and a bar offering light snacks. For luggage, each passenger may bring one large suitcase and one item of hand luggage.

The first route runs from Zurich to Amsterdam and includes several notable stops. In Luxembourg, travellers can walk through the old town with its fortifications and viewpoints. Brussels welcomes visitors to the Grand Place, one of the most impressive squares in Europe. Rotterdam is known for its modern appearance, including cube houses and the Erasmus Bridge, which have become landmarks of the city.

Another route links Zurich with Barcelona, making a stop in Girona. Girona stands out for its medieval feel, where winding lanes guide visitors to the Gothic cathedral and the old quarter still keeps much of its centuries‑old character. In Barcelona, travellers can enjoy the Ramblas promenade, Mediterranean beaches and the architectural works of Gaudí. The starting point, Zurich, is also attractive with its old town and lakeside walks that open views of the Alps.

The launch of these new night buses expands the choice of ways to travel across Europe. For travellers this means greater flexibility in planning routes and the added opportunity to combine different types of transport. Twiliner plans to cover more destinations in the future, but starting from November journeys between Zurich, Amsterdam and Barcelona will already become more convenient for those who prefer night travel.
