Lufthansa’s Second Johannesburg Route
After 20 years, Lufthansa has resumed its Munich to Johannesburg service, a route it last operated in 2004. Flights operate three times weekly using the A350-900, replacing the A340-300 previously used. This marks Lufthansa’s second South African route from Munich, complementing its seasonal Cape Town service.
Emirates Expands to Madagascar
Emirates has added Antananarivo, Madagascar, to its network, with flights operating four times weekly via Seychelles on the Boeing 777-300ER. This route restores the previously unserved Seychelles-Antananarivo segment, benefiting from fifth freedom rights.
TAP Air Portugal’s New Brazilian Route
TAP Air Portugal has introduced its first-ever Lisbon to Florianópolis service, adding to its extensive Brazilian network. This new route became TAP’s second-longest, enhancing connectivity between Europe and Brazil. Manaus will also rejoin TAP’s network in November.
Jetstar’s Longest A321LR Route
Jetstar launched its longest Airbus A321LR service from Perth to Bangkok, competing directly with Thai Airways on this route. The low-cost carrier now serves four international routes from its Perth base, further expanding its presence in Asia.
flynas Begins Jeddah-Berlin Flights
flynas has inaugurated its first Jeddah-Berlin route, becoming the first airline to connect the two cities directly. Operating three times weekly on the A320neo, the route is supported by the Saudi Air Connectivity Program, with Eurowings set to join the route later this year.
Other notable launches include new domestic and international routes by Spirit, easyJet, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines, further expanding their networks.
