The man who reported the bomb threat at Delhi Airport has been arrested: how he explained his call
A 38-year-old man, Krishno Mahto, who made a bomb threat call to Delhi Airport, has been arrested. He was reportedly intoxicated when he came up with the foolish idea.
The incident occurred on January 28. Mahto threatened to detonate a bomb at the airport, leading authorities to take immediate action. According to the Times of India, Mahto hails from West Champaran in Bihar.
"The caller threatened to bomb the airport. Acting on the received information and realizing the seriousness of the threat, Delhi Airport was placed on high alert, and a state of emergency was declared. All necessary instructions and procedures were followed to ensure the safety of passengers," said a police officer.
Following an investigation, it was discovered that the bomb threat was a hoax.
Mahto switched off his phone after making the call, but the police were able to trace him. He confessed to making the call while under the influence of alcohol.
His family members mentioned that Mahto worked as a laborer and had not returned home since January 28. He was apprehended in Kapashera near Delhi and is currently in police custody.
