The heat of hell will change tourists' tastes for Europe: other destinations will become popular
As summer temperatures rise sharply in southern Europe, it could change travelers' habits forever. It is expected that more travelers will choose cooler destinations or vacations at other times of the year to avoid the intense heat.
Currently, the number of people planning to travel to the Mediterranean Sea between June and November has fallen by 10% compared to last year, when hot weather led to droughts and forest fires. This is evidenced by data from the European Travel Commission, reports Yahoo.
Meanwhile, interest in the Czech Republic, Denmark and Ireland has increased. The ETC report also shows that more than 7% of travelers consider extreme weather events to be a major concern for travel between June and November.
Scientists have long warned that climate change will make extreme weather more frequent and deadly. And over the past week, global temperatures have soared to historic highs, sparking forest fires and torrential rains in cities.
In Europe, a second wave of heatwaves could see the highest recorded temperature of 119.8F, or almost +49 Celsius, reached this week.
