The British believe that London will be the first city in the world to give up cars
According to a new survey conducted among the British, people believe that London will be the first major city in the world to become car-free. In their opinion, this will happen by 2050.
A nationwide survey of 2,000 people shows that the British believe in London's success more than in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Copenhagen and Beijing, which are also fighting emissions. The Standard writes about it.
More than 50% of respondents believe that cars will be replaced by bicycles and electric bicycles. Another third of Britons are betting on scooters.
Ten percent of respondents said that futuristic hoverboards have a good chance of replacing cars. Using their imagination and artificial intelligence, the British people assumed that people would fly through the streets instead of sitting in a car.
Swapfiets, the company that commissioned the study, said that if all registered cars in the capital were replaced with electric bicycles, about 1.5 million tons of CO2 emissions could be avoided each year.
The city continues to fight against air pollution by inventing new ways to attract residents to travel by environmentally friendly transport.
