The best trips: which countries are chosen by tourists from Bulgaria

The preferences of Bulgarian residents regarding their favorite destinations for air travel have been revealed. According to a study by eSky.bg, Italy is the most popular destination for Bulgarians in 2023.

Almost half of Bulgarian travelers (44%) chose this country for a 2-3 day vacation. Among the Italian cities, Rome, Milan, Venice, Bari, Bologna, Catania, and Naples were the most popular, according to novinite.

Austria is the second most popular destination. It is preferred by 24% of Bulgarians for short trips. The capital Vienna is the most popular.

The UK is in third place with 17%, and London is the most popular destination. France and Spain have the same 7% share in flight preferences. Paris (7.13%) and Barcelona (7.09%) are the most chosen cities to visit in both directions.

The researchers specify that Italy is the preferred destination for both short and long vacations for travelers with at least a 5-day stay. This country was chosen by 35% of travelers. Spain ranks second with 29% of bookings. The third place is taken by France for a long vacation with 15%. Greece is also one of the most popular destinations.

Experts summarized that the study was conducted using all ticket bookings made on the eSky.bg travel platform with departures between January 1 and December 31, 2023.
