Student Fare Program Now Covers Additional Departure Countries

Lufthansa Group Airlines, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines, have broadened the reach of their student fare program to include additional countries. The offer now includes flights departing from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and other countries where it was not previously available. The expansion is intended for students traveling for study abroad programs or commuting between their home country and educational institutions abroad.
The student fare applies to intercontinental one-way and round-trip flights, excluding routes to and from Japan, Canada and the United States. Eligible passengers can book tickets through the airlines’ official websites after verifying their student status via Sheer ID and providing proof of university enrollment. The fare allows up to two pieces of checked luggage of 23 kilograms each, includes reduced ticket prices, free rebooking and the option for a refund.
The expansion of the fare allows for more booking options and access from a larger number of departure countries. Students planning international travel can now select flights from locations that were previously excluded from the program. The conditions linked to the fare, which cover the luggage allowance and the options for rebooking, define the operational structure for these bookings and provide consistent access across the Lufthansa Group network.
Passengers are encouraged to use the Travel-ID system and the airlines’ mobile applications. Travel-ID enables storage of personal data, integration of travel documents and management of current and past bookings. Over 15 million customers across the Lufthansa Group have already created Travel-ID profiles. It also offers automatic updates and relevant travel information to help passengers manage their travel records.
The expanded student fare represents an update in airline offerings that affects route planning and cost management for student travelers. By increasing the countries eligible for these fares and maintaining clear verification procedures, the program provides defined travel conditions without introducing subjective evaluations. Students and other eligible travelers are now informed about intercontinental flight options with verified eligibility requirements.
