Flight NK445 was scheduled to depart from John Glenn Columbus International Airport at 07:19. Shortly after pushback, the pilot reported a mechanical problem, prompting the evacuation of passengers via stairs onto the taxiway as a precaution. Passengers were then transported back to the terminal and waited for a replacement flight later in the day. The aircraft, registration N949NK, is currently undergoing a thorough evaluation by Spirit’s maintenance team.

In addition to NK445, Spirit Airlines' second daily service from Columbus to Fort Lauderdale, flight NK577, also experienced delays. Originally scheduled to depart at 08:55, it was rescheduled to 10:51 and landed in Fort Lauderdale at 13:05 local time. It remains unclear if passengers from the disrupted flight were accommodated on this second service.
