Qatar Airways Enhances Goa Connectivity with Move to New Manohar International Airport
Qatar Airways has announced a significant operational shift in India, transitioning its flight operations from Dabolim Airport (GOI) in South Goa to the brand-new Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa, effective from 20 June 2024. This move marks the end of Qatar Airways' operations at Dabolim Airport, with the final flights scheduled for 19 June 2024 from Hamad International Airport (DOH) to GOI and the last return to DOH on 20 June 2024.
The switch to Manohar International Airport is set to offer passengers a superior travel experience, thanks to the airport's modern infrastructure, strategic location near hotels and public transport, and its capacity to handle a direct daily flight operated on a mix of Airbus 320 and Boeing 787 aircraft. This change underscores Qatar Airways' commitment to enhancing connectivity and passenger comfort on its route network spanning over 170 destinations worldwide.
Since initiating its Goa service in 2009, Qatar Airways has played a pivotal role in connecting Doha and Goa, fostering a long-standing partnership. The transition to GOX is expected to elevate the airport experience, reflecting the vibrant local culture through a mix of contemporary and Goan architecture. Additionally, GOX's cargo facilities, with a 25,000 metric tonnes temperature-controlled handling capacity, position it as a potential export hub for the region.
Qatar Airways joins other airlines, including strategic partners IndiGo and Oman Air, in utilizing the facilities at GOX, heralding a new era in air travel for the region. Currently, Qatar Airways serves 13 destinations across India, including major cities and economic hubs, underscoring its significant presence in the Indian aviation market.
The move to Manohar International Airport is not just a logistical change but a strategic enhancement in Qatar Airways' service offering, promising an enriched travel experience for its passengers and positioning GOX as a key player in the aviation industry in India and beyond.
