Starting on 29 June 2025, Transport for Wales will roll out a refreshed timetable for the T3 bus line that runs between Wrexham and Barmouth. The update aims to reshape how this route works day to day, responding to what locals have said they need and improving how the service flows through towns along the way. The changes come after hearing what people in Dolgellau, Bala, and nearby places had to say during local meetings. The updated route aims to make the buses run more smoothly, show up more often, and reach places that didn’t get much service before.

A significant change involves the addition of Sunday services for the communities of Llanuwchllyn, Cynwyd, Llandderfel, and Llandrillo. These locations have not been connected to weekend public transport before. All T3 journeys will now also include a stop at Maelor Hospital in Wrexham, offering consistent access to healthcare facilities. Every T3 journey, no matter the day, will now include these extra stops making the route more useful and covering more ground than before.

The revised timetable opens up more weekend travel options for visitors aiming to reach less accessible parts of North Wales. Places around Bala Lake and near the edge of Snowdonia, which used to be a hassle to reach unless you had your own wheels, now have bus service running on Sundays too. This shift allows travelers to explore natural landmarks and smaller villages without relying on weekday-only schedules or private transfers.

The availability of daily service also supports flexible travel planning for those staying in rural accommodations or exploring Wales by public transport. With new stops added in towns previously excluded from the route, tourists can now reach remote destinations, return later in the day, or continue journeys without needing overnight stays. These updates reduce travel barriers and make countryside exploration more manageable for non-local visitors.

We listened to feedback from our passengers and have acted to improve the issues that were raised.
Gethin George, Programme Manager – Bus Network Development at TfW

Transport for Wales says the new changes to the T3 route are meant to give public transport a bigger part in how people get around in the countryside. Bringing in weekend buses and adding hospital stops is helping the service become easier to use and more dependable for everyone. This step signals a long-term approach to extending essential transport services into regions that have often been excluded from year-round connectivity.
