New Early Check-In at Changi Makes Pre-Flight Time Easier for Travelers

On September 1, 2025, the Lufthansa Group introduced its Jewel Early Check-In (JECI) service at Singapore Changi Airport. Passengers flying to Europe with Lufthansa and SWISS can now check in and hand over their luggage from 8:00 a.m., up to 12 hours before regular counters open. This effort is designed to make the beginning of the journey smoother, providing travelers with extra time and greater flexibility long before their flight.
The facility is located on Level 1 of Jewel Changi, giving travelers quick access to the airport’s shopping, dining, and attractions. Lufthansa points out that this launch highlights its long-term commitment to Singapore, a city where it has maintained flight operations for over sixty years. The airline considers Singapore a major aviation hub and is continually enhancing its services to better serve travelers.
“Having recently celebrated our 60th anniversary of flights to Singapore, we are delighted to announce that we will be offering Early Check-in service for all Lufthansa Group guests to Europe. From September 1st, 2025, our passengers will be able to use the Jewel Early Check-In service (JECI) on their day of departure, from 08:00 until 20:00, when the main check-in opens."
With this service, travelers can check in their bags early and receive boarding passes well in advance, easing congestion at regular counters. This also lets passengers avoid peak hours and enjoy a more relaxed and pleasant beginning to their journey. Lufthansa’s approach aims to lower airport stress, letting travelers plan their time more freely and have a more relaxed travel experience.
Early check-in gives travelers extra flexibility and convenience. Freed from the need to carry heavy luggage, travelers can take full advantage of Jewel's premium amenities, enjoy meals at popular restaurants, or relax in a comfortable and cozy environment before departure. This is especially useful for passengers who arrive ahead of schedule or have connecting flights. This service turns waiting into an easy-going, enjoyable, and stress-free part of the journey.
The introduction of early check-in at Changi Airport shows how airlines and airports continuously adapt to enhance passenger flow and overall convenience. By staggering check-in times, airports can lessen congestion and improve operational efficiency, while also offering travelers more freedom and flexibility. This initiative shows how major airlines are adapting their services to changing travel habits, and airports are becoming multifunctional spaces that meet both operational needs and passenger comfort.
