New Direct Flight Links Utah to Peru’s Natural Wonders

Delta Air Lines will launch its first-ever nonstop route between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Lima, Peru (LIM) beginning December 4, 2025. The daily service will run through January 25, 2026, marking the first direct connection between Utah’s capital and a South American destination. The new route reflects growing demand for international travel options from the western U.S., especially to Latin America.
Passengers from the Mountain West can now avoid layovers at larger airports thanks to this direct flight. Key service details include:
- Aircraft: Operated with Boeing 767-300ER
- Schedule: Daily flights through late January
- Cabin classes: Includes several seating options
- Travel demand: Responds to high interest in Lima departures from Salt Lake City
The creation of this first-ever nonstop gateway between Utah and South America is an exciting opportunity to build upon Utah’s growing importance on the world stage and it underscores Delta’s commitment to our state.
The new connection makes several unique Peruvian locations more accessible for North American travelers. Near Lima, the coastal cliffs of Miraflores offer dramatic ocean views and a range of open-air restaurants and walking paths. South of the capital, the Paracas National Reserve provides a rare combination of desert, sea, and wildlife. Further inland, the Huacachina Oasis draws visitors with its towering sand dunes and adventure sports like sandboarding and dune buggy rides.
From Lima, travelers can also explore other natural highlights across the country. Vinicunca, famously called Rainbow Mountain, features vivid mineral bands and offers tough hikes in the Andes. The floating islands of Lake Titicaca, built from reeds by the Uros people, offer an insight into unique traditional lifestyles. The beaches of Máncora, located in northern Peru, are a top destination for those chasing waves or a tranquil tropical retreat.

This new route represents a change in travel options for passengers from the western United States, offering easier access to Peru’s diverse landscapes and heritage while cutting down overall journey times. For many passengers, particularly those interested in nature, coastal experiences, or high-altitude adventures, this new flight option represents a practical and time-saving alternative during peak travel season.
