More than 25 thousand cruisers per day: statistics of the Caribbean port for the first month of 2024
Despite the traditional decline in the cruise season after the winter holidays, the Dominican Republic is celebrating its own tourist milestone. In January, the Dominican city of Puerto Plata managed to receive 5 liners with 25,882 passengers.
It is noted that the cruise ships were moored in two different ports on the Caribbean island: Puerto Plata and Amber Cove. This was reported by Cruise Hive.
In particular, the most famous cruise port in the Caribbean, Amber Cove, was able to receive 2 ships of Holland America Line - Carnival Celebration and Nieuw Statendam - on January 9, which were making a seven-day trip to the Eastern Caribbean.
In turn, on this day, the port of Puerto Plateau, or the port of Tai Bay, received 2 ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet - Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Encore, as well as the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas, which was making a five-day trip to the Caribbean Sea to the Dominican Republic and the private island of the cruise company Coco Cay.
In addition, the country notes the success of this tourist season and expects another 66 ships with international tourists to arrive at the port of Puerto Plateau.
