Million record: Chinese railway felt a rush during the Spring Festival
Over the past 25 days, China's rail network has set a new record, with more than 300 million passengers traveling during the Spring Festival rush. Additional services were provided to meet the surge in travel demand.
According to the national railway operator China State Railway, the 40-day rush to travel for the Spring Festival, which began on January 26, is the largest annual migration of people in the world. This is stated in the material of ChinaDaily.
It is emphasized that in just one day, 14.04 million passenger trips were made by rail. It is expected that about 13.3 million trips will be made later, and another 1716 trains are scheduled to depart.
It is specified that during the eight-day Spring Festival, 99.46 million passenger trips were made by rail. On the last day of the holiday, a record of almost 16.07 million trips was made, setting a new record for daily passenger traffic in China's railway system.
As emphasized by China State Railway, the surge in travel demand will continue in the coming days. This was the reason for the record performance of the railway operator.
It should be added that the 40-day tourist peak, a traditional holiday migration for family reunions and holidays, will last until March 5. The Ministry of Transport expects a record 9 billion passenger trips during this period. Of these, 480 million passenger trips are expected to be made via the railroad system.
