Authorities mention incidents such as robbery, kidnapping and carjacking, as well as sexual assault, extortion and scams. Officials advise visitors to remain cautious at night and follow local guidance at beaches. Strong currents are common in some coastal areas, so swimming alone, at night or while intoxicated is discouraged.
