Mauritius is reopening its airport after the tropical cyclone
Mauritius International Airport has reopened after being affected by a tropical cyclone in the Indian Ocean, causing strong winds and extensive flooding.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated its advisory for the island, noting that Tropical Storm Belal will continue to impact the weather. Tourists have been urged to exercise caution and adhere to the instructions provided by local authorities, as reported by Travel Weekly.
Air Mauritius has resumed some flights and has provided detailed information regarding services that have been canceled or rescheduled. In a statement, the company mentioned, "Air Mauritius will keep its passengers informed about rescheduled flights through its call center, its website airmauritius.com, social media channels, and regular announcements."
The airport has also issued a notice on its website, advising passengers intending to depart to contact their respective airlines for more information about the status of their flights. Passengers are advised not to arrive at the airport unless they have received confirmation of a revised departure time. Additionally, access to the terminal's check-in hall will be temporarily restricted for departing passengers to ensure a smooth resumption of operations.
