Malta International Airport plans to welcome 7.2 million passengers by the end of the year
Malta International Airport expects to welcome 7.2 million passengers this year.
This was announced by the company's Chief Executive Officer Alan Borg. If this figure is reached, the number of passengers will increase by 25 per cent compared to 2022 and will fall to the record of 7.3 million reached in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, Times Malta reports.
Earlier this year, Borg said that the airport plans to welcome 6.3 million passengers by the end of 2023. According to him, in the first half of 2023, more than 3.4 million passengers passed through the airport, which is 5.6% more than in 2019.
He emphasised that the airport's traffic exceeded 700,000 passengers in April, up 8.4% on 2019.
According to him, the airport registered upwardly mobile monthly seat load factors (SLF), which peaked in June at 86% and exceeded both 2022 and 2019 levels.
