Zürich is often seen through the lens of finance, yet it also offers a mix of art, design and outdoor adventure. A short stay here fits everything from museum visits to mountain walks and spa relaxation. The city’s compact size and efficient public transport allow visitors to move easily between galleries, historic cafés and riverside views without losing time in transit.

The day starts with art and history. Kunsthaus Zürich, the country’s largest art museum, displays works by Swiss painters alongside pieces by Monet and Munch. Museum Haus Konstruktiv, set in a former power station, focuses on modern art and design. Afterwards, stop at Hiltl, the city’s long-standing vegetarian restaurant, for lunch before wandering through the narrow streets and independent shops of Zürich’s Old Town.

The second day invites exploration beyond the centre. Locals and visitors alike take the tram to Uetliberg, the city’s own mountain, for wide views over the lake and the distant Alps. A restaurant and observation tower sit at the top, rewarding those who hike or run up the trails. Back in town, the creative Frau Gerolds Garten and the FREITAG flagship store built from stacked containers capture Zürich’s more modern, playful side.

Travelling around Zürich is straightforward thanks to well-connected trams, buses and suburban trains. A day ticket makes it easy to move between the city’s museums, green areas and cafés. In just thirty minutes, a train takes you to Baden, home to the FORTYSEVEN° thermal baths where visitors can relax in warm pools. With short distances and good transport, a weekend in Zürich can include art, open spaces and quiet time to rest.

Zürich stands out for its calm rhythm and variety. The city is easy to explore and rarely feels crowded. In three days, visitors can see major art collections, walk local trails, and spend a few quiet hours in thermal pools, all within reach of the centre. Its good transport links and compact size make short visits straightforward and genuinely worthwhile.
