Kuwait is reviewing the rules for issuing family and tourist visas to stimulate growth
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has implemented new conditions for issuing family, commercial, and tourist visas, marking an important step aimed at revitalizing the commercial, economic, and tourism sectors.
Under the directives of Sheikh Fahad al-Youssef, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior, residency departments in all six provinces are now processing applications in accordance with the revised regulations, as reported by gulfnews.com.
Salary Threshold Requirement
The updated visa conditions require applicants to meet certain salary thresholds: a minimum of AED 400 for sponsors of first-degree relatives such as parents, spouses, and children, and AED 800 for other relatives. Family visas are valid for one month, while tourist visas will be valid for three months.
Key requirements include booking a round-trip air ticket on national airlines and providing a written commitment that visitor visas will not be converted into residency permits. These changes have led to a significant increase in visa applications, particularly in Farwaniyah and Hawalla provinces, indicating the demand and interest generated by the new policy.
Medical Services for Visitors
The ministry clarified that medical services for visitors will be available at private medical centers and hospitals, with public hospitals reserved for those complying with the visa regulations. Violating the terms of stay will result in legal consequences and possible inclusion in the security control system.
The decision to revise the visa regulations aligns with Kuwait's strategic goal of stimulating its economic sectors and attracting tourists from around the world. Tourist visas will now be available to citizens of 53 countries upon arrival or through an electronic system accessible on the Ministry of Interior's website.
