Japan Airlines Embarks on Eco-Conscious Travel with JAL Corporate SAF Program
Japan Airlines (JAL) is charting a sustainable path in aviation with the impending launch of the "JAL Corporate SAF Program." Starting April 2024, the program will provide corporate customers with the ability to certify and capitalize on the environmental benefits of carbon dioxide (CO2) reductions achieved through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The innovation reflects JAL's commitment to environmental stewardship, extending its efforts beyond direct (Scope 1) CO2 emissions from its operations to the broader Scope 3 emissions, encompassing other companies' emissions related to JAL's activities. With a strategic approach, JAL will quantify CO2 savings via SAF certificates, promoting transparency and integrity through third-party validations.
This program is a crucial step for JAL in achieving its goal of incorporating 1% SAF in total fuel usage by 2025 and amplifying it to 10% by 2030. By fostering the procurement and utilization of SAF both domestically and globally, JAL is driving a collaborative effort across industries to realize a decarbonized aviation sector.
By enlisting in the JAL Corporate SAF Program, companies are not just opting for eco-friendly travel; they are investing in the future of a greener planet, reinforcing the necessity and viability of sustainable practices within the corporate world and the airline industry at large.
