ITA Airways Expands in North America: Launches New Chicago Route
ITA Airways, already a major player in the intercontinental travel sector, has launched an ambitious marketing campaign targeting the American market. This initiative, previously successful in New York and Miami, now sets its sights on Chicago, a fresh destination for ITA Airways' 2024 Summer Season.
The campaign aims to bolster sales and enhance the ITA Airways brand's visibility in North America, a key market for the airline after Italy. A notable addition to this strategy is the introduction of a direct flight from Chicago O'Hare to Rome Fiumicino. Starting April 7th, the route will operate six times a week, transitioning to daily flights in June. The schedule features afternoon departures from Chicago and morning arrivals in Rome, utilizing Airbus A330-900 and A330-200 aircraft.
The marketing efforts are diverse and wide-reaching, employing a multichannel approach. In Chicago, the campaign includes a double-decker bus branding, a prominent video wall display at Clarke-Lake station, and various digital screens citywide. The creative "A Sky full of Italy" visual, part of a recently launched communication platform, is designed to intertwine ITA Airways' services with the essence of Italy. The campaign creatively uses a "search bar" motif to suggest that passengers on ITA Airways will experience Italy before even landing, whether it's through Italian cuisine, style, or design.
ITA Airways has identified the United States as its primary international market and intends to be the go-to carrier for travel between North America and Italy. Currently, the airline operates 43 weekly frequencies between the two countries in the winter season. With existing routes from New York, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington, and San Francisco to Rome, and new additions from Chicago and Toronto in the upcoming summer season, ITA Airways is poised to offer comprehensive connectivity to Europe and the Mediterranean via its Rome Fiumicino hub.
