Stagecoach West Scotland has formalised a partnership with Ayr Racecourse, becoming the official transport provider for the 2025 Coral Scottish Grand National. The collaboration introduces a new ticket type, ‘Transport & Entry’, allowing racegoers to book both return travel and event admission in a single purchase. The upcoming event, scheduled for 12 April 2025, is one of the largest on Scotland’s sporting calendar, expected to attract significant visitor numbers.

The new service builds on a successful pilot during the Ayr Gold Cup in September 2024. Pickup points for the 2025 Grand National have been confirmed in locations such as Glasgow, Stirling, Falkirk, and East Kilbride. A similar package will be available from Glasgow for Ladies Day on 11 April. Ticket options begin at £45 and can be purchased directly from the Ayr Racecourse website, providing an accessible alternative to private travel.

The partnership eliminates transport and event entry hurdles by merging as one. This model promotes sustainable travel by reducing car usage and the demand for parking around the racecourse. With Ayr located on Scotland’s west coast, the service also encourages day visitors and weekend travellers to explore the surrounding area without the stress of coordinating transport independently.

The trend is a reflection of increasing partnership of travel operators in major venues to work together to deliver more customer-centric and seamless experiences. Through a wider push towards integrated mobility solutions, Stagecoach helps deliver frictionless travel. These are especially appealing to visitors unfamiliar with regional transport networks, making cultural and sporting events more accessible to tourists as well as locals.

This is a good sign for travellers in Scotland. It demonstrates how transport providers and event organisers can facilitate trip planning, scale back travel burden, and develop tourism best practices in regional areas away from urban centres. For those considering a trip to Ayr in April, this service provides a practical, affordable way to experience one of the country’s premier racing events.
