The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Osprey Flight Solutions have announced the inaugural World Overflight Risk Conference 2024, set to bring together the global aviation community. This landmark event is designed to address the complex and evolving challenges associated with overflight risks, providing a platform for key stakeholders to discuss solutions and share insights. The conference, to be held in 2024, aims to foster collaboration and innovation within the aviation sector, particularly in airspace near conflict zones.

The event's purpose is to unite a diverse range of aviation professionals, including operators, regulators, and insurers, to enhance the understanding of overflight risks and develop strategies for managing them. This unique gathering is the first of its kind, promising a comprehensive approach with participation from various sectors at the organizational level. The significance of the conference is heightened by the 10-year anniversary of the tragic downing of Flight MH17, reinforcing the importance of addressing overflight safety in a broader context.

Attendees can expect an agenda focused on strategic insights into overflight risk management, fostering collaboration, and discussing the challenges associated with operating in conflict-prone airspace. As a non-profit event, all proceeds from the conference will be directed toward the victims' associations of MH17 and PS752, demonstrating a commitment to the global aviation community.

In addition to addressing overflight risk, the conference is set to promote a safer operational environment through collaboration and innovation. With no major AVSEC events scheduled in 2024 that focus on conflict zone risks, this conference fills a crucial gap, offering a space for meaningful discussions on how to advance safety in aviation. It represents a collaborative effort to standardize lexicon and methodologies for managing risks in these sensitive airspaces, paving the way for a safer and more secure aviation industry.
