Hilton has announced the opening of two new hotels in Iceland: one in Reykjavik and the other in Akureyri. This marks a significant expansion for Hilton in Iceland, with the Akureyri property becoming the first internationally branded countryside hotel in northern Iceland.

The first hotel, Akureyri "Skáld" Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, will be located on Hafnarstræti street in Akureyri. Set to open in summer 2025, it will feature 70 rooms, a tranquil lounge and lobby bar, an all-day restaurant with an outdoor courtyard, and an innovative social club concept. The hotel's location is ideal for tourists, offering easy access to the Diamond Circle and Arctic Circle, popular for whale watching and viewing the Northern Lights.

The second hotel will be located in Reykjavik on Bríetartún street, adjacent to the historic Freemasons' Hall and the vibrant Hlemmur area. Scheduled to open in spring 2026, this property will offer premium lifestyle accommodation. The design will use natural materials and sustainability, providing guests with an immersive Icelandic experience. Further details about this hotel will be announced later this year.

Nick Smart, Hilton's vice president of development for the UK, Ireland, and Nordics, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, noting Iceland's popularity as a travel destination. He emphasized Hilton's commitment to growth in European markets and collaboration with Bohemian Hotels ehf. to bring these projects to fruition.

These new properties will join Hilton's existing portfolio of four hotels in Iceland, including the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre, Iceland Parliament Hotel, and Hilton Reykjavík Nordica. The addition of the Akureyri and Reykjavik hotels will further strengthen Hilton's presence in Iceland, catering to the increasing number of tourists visiting the country.
