AEGEAN and Olympic Air are warning passengers traveling on August 28, 2025, about possible flight disruptions. A four hour work stoppage by air traffic controllers is scheduled from 09:30 to 13:30 as part of a nationwide strike organized by the union ADEDY. While a court ruling may still suspend the action, the airlines are already giving passengers the option to adjust their travel plans at no extra cost.

At this stage, all flights remain scheduled as usual. A NOTAM issued by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority confirms that operations will continue until a court decides whether air traffic controllers can legally take part in the strike. In the meantime, AEGEAN offers passengers the chance to change their bookings through the My Booking platform, the airline’s app, or via customer service.

This option makes it simple for travelers to adjust their plans without the stress of losing money or missing their trips. Passengers are allowed to move their flights to any date up to September 30, 2025, without incurring extra charges or fare adjustments. Passengers can also choose to request a credit voucher to use for future travel. These measures offer travelers more freedom to adjust their plans, whether visiting Greek islands, lively cities, or destinations abroad.

Even with these safeguards, travelers need to stay prepared for sudden, last-minute changes. Delays and cancellations remain a risk if the strike goes ahead. Flexibility is key when planning; choose accommodations that offer free cancellation and build in extra time for connections to minimize stress. Travelers are encouraged to frequently look at airline websites and apps to stay updated and avoid sudden issues, making their journey more relaxed and hassle-free.

The situation reflects the wider challenges of balancing labor rights with the need to maintain essential services. This example shows travelers how rapidly a nationwide strike can disrupt flights and vacation arrangements. Even with backup plans in place, travelers will face uncertainty until the legal and labor issues are fully settled. Passengers should stay alert to official updates and consider alternative arrangements in case the strike goes ahead.
