Greece received over 32.7 million visitors in 2023
In 2023, Greece received more than 32.7 million visitors, which is 15.7% more than in 2022. In addition, a significant tourist surge brought the country an income of 20.5 billion euros.
It is noted that the income of 11.1583 million euros is due to the expenses of tourists from the EU, and another 8.591 billion euros were brought to the country by other foreign tourists. This was reported by Travel And Tour World.
At the same time, a significant contribution was made last year by tourists from Germany, who left 3.563 billion euros in the country. The second most generous were French visitors, who contributed 1.425 billion euros to the Greek budget. In addition to the EU countries, citizens of the United Kingdom spent 3.307 billion euros in Greece, as well as the United States - 1.367 billion euros. At the same time, revenue from Russian visitors decreased by 20.8% and amounted to 32.8 million euros.
In general, the country recorded a 17.6% increase in tourist traffic compared to the previous year, receiving 32.7 million travelers compared to 27.8 million in 2022. Thus, the number of travelers from EU countries amounted to 19.65 million people, which is 15.6% more than in 2022, while the number of visitors from other countries increased by 20.8% to 13.01 million people.
