Garner Bhuj Hotel Expands Stay Choices in Historic Kutch

A new hotel carrying the Garner Hotels & Resorts name, which belongs to the IHG Hotels & Resorts group, is expected to open its doors in Bhuj, the main city of Gujarat’s Kutch district, sometime in early 2026. The 40-room property will be located near the developing DP World Special Economic Zone, an area drawing increasing commercial interest. This project is part of a broader push to make travel easier in places that are welcoming more tourists while also growing as business hubs.
Garner Bhuj is the third hotel of its kind to pop up in India in just a short time, showing that more and more travellers want decent, affordable places to stay in cities that aren’t massive metros. For a long time, Bhuj and the surrounding Kutch area didn’t really have any well-known hotel names, even though the region often fills up with visitors during festivals and holidays. The introduction of a globally operated hotel suggests the city is shifting toward a more structured and accessible environment for both short-term and extended stays.

Bhuj has plenty of open-air spots for those who’d rather take in the town by walking around and soaking up its scenery. Hamirsar Lake, an artificial reservoir, serves as a community gathering space surrounded by paths and shaded seating. Not far from the lake rises Bhujiyo Hill, a modest elevation with panoramic views across the city and desert edge. You can walk up the hill without much effort, and it’s a favorite spot for people who want a peaceful view of the town without going far.
In the central part of Bhuj, not far from where the new hotel will be located, visitors can easily reach several well-known landmarks without needing to travel far. Prag Mahal, a 19th-century sandstone palace, features a grand façade and one of the tallest clock towers in the region. Right next to it is Aina Mahal, a building filled with walls covered in mirrors and detailed decorations made by local artisans. Both sites are situated in the historic center and can be reached on foot from many parts of the city.

Garner Bhuj is shaking things up for travellers by offering a steady place to stay no matter the season, something the area didn’t always have before. Whether you're coming for a festival, checking out local landmarks, or just passing through on your way to the desert, having this new place to stay makes organizing your trip a whole lot easier. The development supports Bhuj’s gradual transition from a seasonal festival location into a stable destination with improved access for independent travelers.
