Fly faster: revolutionary boarding technology at Abu Dhabi Airport's Terminal A
The new Terminal A at Abu Dhabi Airport provides passengers with new amenities that will save a lot of time when boarding an airplane. In particular, boarding time has been reduced to 3 seconds.
At the same time, passenger check-in takes up to 10 seconds, compared to a minute or more in the old airport terminals. Thus, passengers can expect to go from the entrance to the boarding gate in about 12 minutes, GulfNews reports..
The new Terminal A has already deployed biometric services at five locations. There are also plans to expand to nine, including airport transfers and retail operations.
The biometric services provided in the new terminal are based on state-of-the-art technology. They are currently used for automatic check-in, self-service, self-service, baggage claim, immigration electronic gates and boarding gates.
Previously, passengers needed an additional access point to submit biometric data for a seamless journey. However, with the introduction of the new automatic check-in point, passengers' data is automatically registered.
The service is available to UAE nationals as well as tourists. "If you have traveled through any airport in the UAE within the last 7 years, the services will apply to you," the airport administration says.
Although self-service is currently available only to Etihad Airways customers, it is planned to expand the service to all customers of all airlines operating at the airport soon.
The airport administration also plans to roll out new services at nine access points at the airport. They will be deployed at the check-in point itself, as well as at an additional point of interaction.
In addition, passengers can join a loyalty program in the airport's retail network, allowing them to use biometric profiles for hassle-free purchases in duty-free. This also applies to car rental and airline lounges.
