Danger in the airplane: why you need to pay attention to hand luggage
During a flight, passengers can face dangerous situations on board an airplane. For example, an airline passenger who stole more than £18,000 during a flight was recently arrested.
On a flight from Vietnam to Singapore, three passengers reported that their bags had been robbed, with significant amounts of money missing. Travel experts have warned passengers about the risks of carrying jewelry in hand luggage, as reported by Express.
Experts note that thieves can view hand luggage as a treasure trove filled with valuable documents, gadgets, and cash. They exploit the sense of security of travelers who sit comfortably on board and do not think about security.
"First of all, smart packing is crucial. Choose a sturdy backpack, preferably one that can be securely closed and marked with colorful clasps for easy identification. If a clasp is missing or damaged, it is important to notify a staff member immediately," security experts advise.
According to them, staying vigilant is key, especially at times when attention may be diverted to other circumstances. It is advisable to store larger bags in lockers near your seat to keep a close eye on them. At the same time, for valuable items such as passports, cash, and phones, it is best to use secure belt bags or carry them in your pocket.
Passengers are also reminded that while it may be tempting to leave their belongings with a trusted fellow traveler, it is better not to leave them unattended at all and to keep them in sight at all times. Simple safety rules not only minimize the risk of theft but also ensure that insurance requirements are met.
At the same time, if a traveler does become a victim of a thief, they should immediately report the incident to their airline and local police. Tourists should make sure to collect all the necessary evidence if they want to file an insurance claim for reimbursement.
Experts also add that it is important for travelers who have been robbed on an airplane to assess their responsibility in the situation. Make sure that valuables were safe and that luggage was not left unattended. These circumstances can directly affect the prospects for a claim and compensation.
