Crash in Japan: Japan Airlines plane burst into flames during landing (video)
On Tuesday evening, January 2, a fire broke out at Tokyo Haneda Airport. According to media reports, an explosion was heard on board Japan Airlines flight 516.
The vessel was flying from Shin Chitose Airport in Japan. According to Euronews, the incident occurred when the plane was taxiing to the runway.
According to NHK, flames erupted from the plane shortly after Japan Airlines Flight 516 landed on runway C at Haneda Airport at about 5:47 p.m.
A local television station's video shows firefighters working to extinguish the plane. The Japan Airlines plane and a Japanese Coast Guard plane allegedly collided.
NHK assures that 367 passengers and 12 crew members were evacuated and that the accident may have been related to a collision with a Japanese coast guard plane.
As of 17:30, the AMeDAS system installed at Haneda Airport was reporting a 1.6-metrу westerly wind, with no changes in weather conditions.
At least 70 fire trucks and other equipment were sent to extinguish the fire.
Tokyo Haneda Airport is one of the busiest in Japan. This is where most travellers go on vacation at the end of the year.
