Candlewood Suites Debuts in Europe with Long-Stay Hotels Across Germany
АCandlewood Suites, part of the global IHG Hotels & Resorts group, has launched its first European property in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district. The opening, in partnership with German hotel operator NOVUM Hospitality, brings a long stay brand previously limited to the Americas into the European market. The new hotel shares its building with Holiday Inn the niu Flash, signaling a growing interest in mixed format properties catering to different types of travellers under one roof.
Five more Candlewood Suites locations are set to open across Germany in 2025, including in Düsseldorf, Heidelberg, Augsburg, Fürth, and near Berlin Brandenburg Airport. These hotels are transformed from existing NOVUM properties and tailored especially for guests planning longer stays. Each will offer amenities such as kitchen equipped rooms, self service laundry, and flexible housekeeping schedules, features intended to meet the needs of guests staying for weeks rather than just nights.

Travellers staying at the Berlin Charlottenburg location will find themselves near popular attractions such as the Charlottenburg Palace, one of the city's most significant baroque landmarks, and the nearby Kurfürstendamm boulevard, famous for its shops and cafés. The area also offers easy access to the Berlin Zoo and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, making it a convenient base for both leisure and business visitors looking to explore the city’s cultural highlights.
The upcoming Candlewood Suites locations outside Berlin put visitors near some of the area’s favorite places. Near the airport in Düsseldorf, the hotel is not far from MedienHafen, a neighborhood famous for its fresh architecture and nightlife buzz. Heidelberg’s property is near the historic Old Town and the famous Heidelberg Castle, while the Fürth location offers access to the Neue Mitte shopping area and Erlangen Arcaden, popular for retail and dining experiences.
