Best US airports: 5 leaders named
The favourite airport for Americans is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire. The result was obtained based on travellers' reviews from October 2022 to February 2023.
The results were published by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Passengers rated airports for access, check-in and security, restaurants and bars, as well as shopping and design.
The majority of the airports on the list are regional airports, which serve as a less congested alternative to major airports, which are often too small to handle passenger traffic.
1. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport: Manchester, New Hampshire
Located about 50 miles from Boston, Massachusetts.
One passenger said "Has quickly become my absolute favourite airport; it's beautiful and clean and so quick and easy to get in and out."
It handles about 1.7 million passengers annually.
2. Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana
Indianapolis International Airport, four points below the leader, received a score of 80.08.
Serving between seven and eight million people annually, it operates flights to 40 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
3. Tampa International Airport, Florida
Tampa International Airport was next on the list. 78% of flights here arrived on time.
4. St Paul International Airport, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Minnesota's St Paul International Airport came in fourth place with an annual on-time percentage of over 81.8 per cent, which rivals the top of the list.
5. Portland International Airport, Oregon
Portland International Airport rounds out the top five airports in the states with a reader score of 79.44.
Approximately 7.2 million passengers passed through the airport in 2022, with an on-time performance of just over 79% in 2022.
