Center Parcs has revealed its intention to build its first Scottish resort, positioned near Hawick in the scenic Scottish Borders. The project, valued at approximately £400 million, is projected to encompass nearly 700 cabins. Once completed, it is expected to create around 1,200 permanent job opportunities within the region.

The chosen site covers around 400 acres of lush meadows and forested land, situated a few miles north of Hawick. According to Center Parcs’ CEO, the resort will bring considerable economic benefits and improvements in local biodiversity. Plans for submitting a formal application are scheduled for early 2025, with construction anticipated to last around two to two and a half years.

This initiative is set to elevate tourism in the area, drawing thousands of visitors each year and positively impacting the regional economy. With an array of attractions designed for family-friendly outdoor adventures, the resort aims to enrich the appeal of the Scottish Borders. The addition of Center Parcs will bolster the area’s profile as an attractive destination for nature lovers.

Beyond the upcoming Center Parcs resort, the Scottish Borders already offer a range of interesting sites for visitors to explore. Key landmarks include the ancient Melrose Abbey, the tranquil St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve, and the charming town of Peebles, celebrated for its unique High Street and annual arts festival. These destinations provide a glimpse into the rich cultural and natural heritage of the area.

Cycling enthusiasts will also find plenty of scenic routes in the region. The Three Distilleries Pathway on Islay features breathtaking coastal views alongside historic distilleries, while the Broughty Ferry to Carnoustie route offers a relaxed cycling experience along the coast. These routes highlight the scenic beauty and diverse activities available to tourists.

The addition of Center Parcs in Scotland marks a significant advancement for the country's tourism sector. Travelers can look forward to a mix of modern facilities surrounded by nature, promising an unforgettable vacation. This expansion emphasizes Scotland’s dedication to enhancing its tourism industry for both local and international guests.
