Starting September 1, Greater Manchester will introduce a 24-hour transport service, enhancing travel options for locals and visitors alike. The night buses will operate on the V1 and 36 routes, linking Manchester with Leigh and Bolton via Salford. This pilot initiative will see buses running at least every hour, ensuring around-the-clock access for approximately 135,000 residents living within a five-minute walk from these routes.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, highlighted the importance of robust transport infrastructure to support the city's growth and ensure safe, reliable access to its vibrant employment and leisure hubs. The V1 and 36 routes were selected for their proximity to key nightlife and employment areas, making them particularly valuable for tourists and business travelers who need reliable transport options late at night.

Manchester offers a wide range of nighttime activities, from bustling bars and nightclubs in the Northern Quarter to live music venues like Band on the Wall. Theater enthusiasts can enjoy late-night performances at the Royal Exchange Theatre, while those looking for a quieter evening can visit one of the city's sophisticated cocktail bars. Additionally, the city's diverse culinary scene, with late-night food markets and trendy restaurants, provides numerous options for night owls.

The introduction of the 24-hour bus service will make it easier for visitors to explore these nighttime attractions without worrying about transport limitations. Whether it's attending a comedy show at The Frog and Bucket or dancing at The Warehouse Project, travelers can now enjoy Manchester's nightlife with the assurance of reliable transport to get them safely back to their accommodations.

Safety is a major focus of the new service. The Bee Network will extend its Travelsafe Support and Enforcement Officers to cover the night routes, ensuring a secure environment for passengers. Additionally, the GMP LiveChat service on the Bee Network app allows passengers to report incidents discreetly, further enhancing safety.

This new transport service aims to improve the overall travel experience in Greater Manchester, providing continuous connectivity and greater convenience for both locals and visitors. By addressing the need for reliable night-time transport, the city is making its vibrant nightlife more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
