Sleeper train which will connect European cities will start running in 2024

If you're afraid of airplanes, this alternative is for you! Now you can travel between European cities by train. A new train service will connect Barcelona directly to another major European city.

The service will be provided by Nightjet, a European railroad company specializing in providing sleeper cars. Nightjet already has a network of routes in several European countries, such as France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. This was reported by The Scottish Sun.

Sleeper train is a good alternative to an airplane

According to The Local ES, the new train will run between Barcelona and Zurich in Switzerland. It is also planned to open flights to other European cities such as Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Florence, Hamburg, and Milan.

The train will reach a maximum speed of 230 km/h (142 mph).

So far, there are no details on how long it will take to make the full journey, except for the fact that it will last overnight.

The route is scheduled to launch in December 2024, but other details have not yet been disclosed.

In addition to the connection from Barcelona to Zurich, another night train is planned to be launched. This time, it will be operated by the Dutch-Belgian startup European Sleeper and will connect Barcelona with Amsterdam. The company has already confirmed that the route will stop in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels and Lille in the evening and in Avignon, Montpellier, Perpignan, Figueres and Girona in the morning.

The statement says:

"The Amsterdam-Barcelona night train will significantly improve the quality of north-south rail services in Europe. The night train offers an efficient way to travel and relax."

European Sleeper plans to launch a new service from Amsterdam to Barcelona in the spring of 2025.
